Are you ready for a challenge? A challenge to improve your business and move forward, to give you a little nudge out of your comfort zone?

I’m participating in the Stretch Yourself Challenge hosted by Kelly McCausey of Love People + Make Money.

The challenge is a fun competition with yourself and others.  Everyone participating in the group challenge is divided into two teams.  I was assigned to Team Bold.

Each individual person earns points for completing various activities and challenges.  Then all the people on the team add their points together for the team score at the end.

People earning the most points earn prizes and the winning team will receive prizes.

What Are The Challenges?

The challenges vary for easy to difficult.  Actually none are difficult, but they do require more effort and time.

There is a list of 21 challenges to choose from.  A few of the challenges are:

  • Share Your Expertise & Promote It Like Crazy!
  • Run a Virtual Summit
  • Apply to Speak at a Conference
  • Starting a YouTube Channel
  • Do a Content Refresh
  • Create A Tiktok Account & Post Three Times
  • Create A Twitch.TV Account & Stream Three Times

Why I’m Participating

I’m participating in the Stretch Yourself Challenge because I have a habit of putting work on my website, my social media, and other parts of my business last on my list.  I always make my clients’ work a priority which is great for them, but sometimes I ignore what I need to do for me. Especially when it comes to marketing myself.

So this challenge is helping me to do some things for my business to move it forward.

Out of Your Comfort Zone

Some of the items do push your out of your comfort zone and makes you feel a bit vulnerable.  They force you to just take a leap and do it.     That is a good thing to have happen sometimes.

The great thing about the group challenge is you have a lot of people supporting you and encouraging you along the way.

My Recommendation

I recommend the Stretch Yourself Challenge because it motivates you to move forward and gives you the specific steps you need to do to complete each challenge.

The group challenge is during the month of September, but you can purchase the self-study version of the Stretch Yourself Challenge and do it anytime.   Or join us next year when we do the group challenge again.

After the group challenge is over, I plan to do a challenge a month to keep the momentum going.  You could do the same.

Join Me

I invite you to join me for a challenge a month in the Stretch Yourself Challenge.  Purchase the self-study module and let me know you purchased it and we can form a little group to hold each other accountable.

I agree with you and always put the client work first. I also need to work more on my business instead of in. I like that you are planning to continue to do a challenge a month after the main September challenge has been completed.

Robin, I am the worst about working on my own business. That is why I enjoy this challenge as well. It helps me focus on what I need to do to help grow my personal business. I like how your outlined the specifics of the challenge.

You make a very good point about how this challenge really helps people who tend to back-burner their content marketing and website work. I’ve been doing that for way too long myself. I also like the idea of doing a challenge a month after September ends. I may need to adopt that idea!

    Robin,

I definitely related to putting things off for my business and working more on my clients’ work. I kept telling myself I needed to stop doing that, but I just couldn’t. The Stretch Yourself Challenge has helped with that. I loved what you said about the goal being that everyone wins. I hadn’t thought of it like that, and you are so right about that!

I am planning on doing a challenge every month as well.

    Go TEAM BOLD!!! 😀

Robin, I completely understand your comment about making your clients’ work a priority. I do that all the time. And, while it’s a great and noble thing to do, we definitely need to take care of our own businesses. I, too, find the SYC that time when I can pause and think about what I need to do. I agree that some of these challenges definitely take me out of my comfort zone. While I won’t get to all of them, I’ll definitely keep working on some of them after the SYC wraps up. Maybe we’ll get a chance to triad before it’s over. I’ll be looking for more opportunities for that the last week of September. To your success!

This sentence “Some of the items do push your out of your comfort zone and makes you feel a bit vulnerable” pulled me in like a magnet because of the word “vulnerable”. It can be scary being vulnerable, the fear of being rejected, of not being good enough, or some other fear, lurk in the background of our minds, holding us back. We cannot stretch ourselves without becoming vulnerable.

Great reminder that challenging ourselves sometimes pushes us out of our comfort zone and makes us feel vulnerable. But, YES those accomplishments and rewards of growing our business after taking on and completing the challenges are totally awesome, right?

What strikes me as a brilliant move is this: “After the group challenge is over, I plan to do a challenge a month to keep the momentum going. You could do the same.” I should really be doing that, too. I can just imagine what wonderful things can happen by following through. Dare? Haha… I’ll give this some serious thinking. I guess for now, I’ll need a breather no matter how short. Thanks for the inspiration!

So true! Probably every business owner out there has spent lots of hours at first building our business and then more hours on clients, customers, projects and then putting our own work last. Yep! But we don’t get to keep having awesome clients if we don’t do the work ON our businesses. So glad to see how you’re stretching and committing to your business for the challenge month.

Robin, I just love hopping over to your “home on the web” and seeing what you are up to. You are “spot-on” about the SYC. I love the opportunity to do those things that I typically do for others and never get around to for myself. I hope that this month is your most productive. I cannot wait to see what you accomplish! 🙂

I love the idea of keeping that wonderful sense of community continuing through your self study sessions. The more you step outside your comfort zone and tackle those challenges, the more you will the one supporting others.

So great to have you in the challenge, Robin. And I’m just like you – I always prioritize client work first which means all my business stuff gets put on the back burner. And that’s why I like the challenge because I know I can accomplish quite a bit, for my biz, during the month it runs.

Robin, I love that you also included a video of yourself talking about the content in the blog. That makes it so easy to see who you are, get to know you and helps those who prefer to watch a video or listen to audio rather than read. So glad you’re stretching in the #SYC and can’t wait to see your name on the finishers’ list!

I can totally relate to putting clients before your own buiness. The SYC challenge does help you focus on what you need to be doing and the community is so encouraging to help you get it done.
I love the way you think! I invited my groups to use me as an accountablity partner to complete whatever challenge they are doing. Setting the goal of completing one challenge a month is brilliant and do-able! Wishing you much success!

The SYC helps me work ON my business and not just IN my business. Because of what I have accomplished as a result of the challenge, I easily added an extra $1,110 a month to my bottom line!

If you need the accountability and want to stretch yourself, you need to join!

I too plan on doing more challenges each month! October will start the content refresh. Please check in on the forum to help us stay accountable when we keep on the rest of the year.

Your video is great! I agree that the challenge aspect is very motivating. I am looking forward to having the book to continue working from even after the prizes are awarded. It’s nice that the community is there all year ’round. I would encourage any business owner looking for a community of supportive peers to jump into the self study and not wait for next September.

It’s so true – we put everything else before our businesses way too often! What a great idea to tackle a challenge per month. Imagine what can happen in a year at that pace??!

Yay for you for moving forward and getting out of your comfort zone! It does make me feel vulnerable too, but I’m glad to have tackled it this month. Doing FB lives was a hurdle I needed to overcome for awhile now. Hope to hear you reach your goals!

Kudos to you, Robin, for making your business a priority! It’s way too easy to put our businesses on the back burner while putting client projects front and center. I love the way you are leading your community by example and opening the space to help them with their own business growth.
