Here are some business cleaning ideas to get you ready for a fresh new season of success:

Clean Up Your Business Books

You’re probably focused on taxes right now. If tax prep has become a huge nightmare, then you need to get your accounting system more organized. Connect your QuickBooks to your Square or PayPal accounts and schedule a few minutes every week to do a quick bookkeeping review. The more automatic you make your processes, the easier it will be to keep things in order.

Update Your Website

A great website is not only your digital business card; it can also help to grow your brand. Make sure your website is SEO optimized. Review each page to see if your content needs to be updated and look for spelling errors.  Does your site need to be completely refreshed with a new layout?  If you need help, hire a professional for a few tasks that you don’t know how to do on your own.

Set Up New Ways to Sell

If you’ve been dragging your feet on setting up an online store, now is the perfect time to get started.   Integrate your site with a shop page and list your products with PayPal links for easy payment.

Set Up Your Analytics.

If you aren’t using Google Analytics, or some other site analyzation program, then you’re missing important data. Analytics help you see how people find your site, where they go, and what tends to be the last thing they see before leaving.  This information will help you determine what your visitors like about your site so that you can add more.

Check Your Links

This goes beyond your main site and blog posts; it extends into emails, newsletters, and any other marketing links on your site and in your email signature. Shifts in page structures and URLs can send people to page-not-found messages. Find the errors before your customers do.

Plan For Holidays

Mother’s Day and graduation are coming up soon. Do you have products that people will want for these occasions?  If so, it’s time to start planning your sales, social media posts and email blasts to share your holiday gifts and specials.

Get Rid of Paper

Spring is a great time to start clearing physical clutter too, starting with that big pile of papers on your desk.  Plan some time to go through your piles, desk drawers, book cases, and any other work space you use and get rid of what you don’t need.  If possible, scan documents you need to save and keep them digitally to reduce clutter.

Send Out a Customer Satisfaction Survey

This is a great time to find out what your customers like, wish you provided more of, don’t like, and even get some new testimonials.  Put together a customer survey in Survey Monkey and send it out to your email list.

Empty Your Inbox

How many emails do you currently have in your Inbox?  Sent box?  Junk mail?  Plan just 15 minutes a day to start working through those emails that have built up over time and either delete them or move them to a folder with other similar emails so you can find it later.

Do Some Actual Cleaning.

Freshen up your office with a good cleaning.  Vacuum the floors, dust ceiling fans and bookshelves, wash windows and spruce up any other areas that need it.

When things run efficiently, you have more time to focus on growing your business.  Take a little time to get these areas cleaned up and you’ll be able to head into spring with a fresh outlook for your business.  Spring cleaning your business is a must!
